- About Me FINAL - The 2023-24 NBA season is in full tilt. The Boston Celtics and defending champion Denver Nuggets stand as favorites to win the NBA championship in June, but they're not free of top contenders. The preseason favorite Milwaukee Bucks are in the mix too, as are the Philadelphia 76ers sans James Harden. In the Western Conference, the Phoenix Suns are a top challenger with eyes on unseating the reigning champion Nuggets. The team in question is the Philadelphia 76ers, who won it back in 1983. Oddsmakers think of them as the 4 title favorite, with odds of +800. They do have a decent squad, led by the Most Valuable Player finalist Joel Embiid. The trouble is that he might be struggling with fitness after picking up an injury a few weeks ago. One knock on the Warriors chances to win it all is the injuries to Klay Thomson and James Wiseman. While the team can get to the postseason without them, things change when it comes to making a playoff run. They will absolutely need Thomson, and to a lesser extent Wiseman, if they have a chance to run the table.
