Bradley Chubb heavily favored to win Defensive Rookie of the Year When the Denver Broncos drafted Bradley Chubb fifth-overall in the 2018 NFL Draft Jared Veldheer Jersey , the consensus was that they got the best defensive player coming out of college. Oddsmakers in Las Vegas agreed, giving Chubb the best odds of winning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Chubb is off to an up and down start. He was sealed off by tight end Kyle Rudolph last week that sprung Latavius Murray for a 20 yard run, but came back a few plays later at the goal line to blow up Rudolph off the line to stop Murray short. Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods thought Chubb came out afraid to make a mistake, but after encouragement to turn it loose Chubb began making those plays.“The thing with Bradley, he was really kind of a little nervous and afraid to make a mistake,” Woods said. “I was like, ‘Hey man, you’ve got to cut it lose. Don’t worry about the mistakes, we’ll fix the mistakes. You just play hard.’”Chubb is already ahead of Shane Ray on the depth chart and will start opposite of Von Miller in the regular season. That gives him a good shot at competing for this Defensive Rookie of the Year award.Do you think Chubb will do well enough to win it? How do you even begin to talk about the Broncos loss to the Jets on Sunday? I’d like to paint the Broncos as the victims in this. The poor, unsuspecting team from Denver got run over by a better and more dominant team. Sunday’s result was something unfortunate that happened to them. Awwww...However, that’s not entirely the case. Sunday’s loss was an event of the Broncos own making. They are a team without vision. A team without leadership. A rudderless boat spinning in circles praying for a catastrophic leak or a mercy waterfall. Will someone please tell me what it is that Vance Joesph does well? What is that thing that he does that keeps him around? Surely a defensive genius wouldn’t have that side of the ball so ill prepared that they would allow big play after big play on the way to making it an historic day for the Jets franchise... with a rookie quarterback and a retread Cleveland Browns running back. The defense was awful. Von Miller is missing. Chubb is a no show. Bradley Roby looks like he’d be better suited to be doing just about anything other than playing football. You would think that he would get tired running the length of the field on damn near every play. What, exactly, was the game plan? Offensively Adam Gotsis Jersey , Case Keenum is not as advertised. When he was acquired, the Broncos PR machine did a damn good job of convincing Broncos Country that Case Keenum wasn’t Case Keenum. I’ll be damned if Case Keenum hasn’t shown up to every game this season. His throws are off target, timid, and pedestrian. Although, it’s not solely his fault. Despite a run-game the likes of which Broncos Country hasn’t seen in years, coaches can’t seem to remember to hand the ball to the running backs. Tight ends? Pish posh... Who needs ‘em? There is no cohesive plan to this offense and it shows. Watching Vance Joseph coach is like watching a drunk person try to figure out a Rubix Cube. With the unbeaten Rams coming to town next Sunday, the only way for the Broncos to have a fighting chance is shake things up and get the players’ attention. Unfortunately, we’ve seen this tragedy before, Broncos fans. There will be finger pointing, contrition, and, in the end, another embarassing loss to show for all of it. This doesn’t end well.
