Diablo 4 direct designer Joe Shely confirmed the long-awaited Blizzard name would comprise cosmetic microtransactions similar to Diablo Immortal Gold those in Blizzard's shot Overwatch.Shely discussed the forthcoming game's microtransactions throughout a hands-on appearance at Diablo 4 using Twitch streamer Quin69 that happened during BlizzCon 2019. He added that Diablo 4 will be updated occasionally with post-launch content, along with in-game purchases that were decorative. "Diablo IV will be accessible as a base game... we are likely to have expansions," Shely said during the flow. "You will also be able to acquire cosmetics in the game... It's very early... but."

Shely also briefly noted that Diablo 4 will introduce an auction system, though he didn't offer significant details about how it would operate. Diablo 3 had an auction house feature upon release that allowed players to sell their in-game gear for dollars. Blizzard eventually eliminated the auction home from the match in 2014 after a massive outcry from gamers who felt that the feature allowed some to pay to win.

When asked how microtransactions will be implemented to the match, Shely reacted by stating:"It's not clear just yet what form these cosmetic microtransactions might take." Shely added that Diablo 4"will not sell power," meaning that most, if not all, of the microtransactions at Diablo 4 will probably be restricted to decorative items, such as skins, rather than power-ups that could affect gameplay.

In the last several decades, microtransactions are a hot debate topic in the industry when they're contained in full-priced games that were $60. Luckily, cosmetic microtransactions do not impact gameplay and, when done correctly, can offer an additional revenue stream after launching, which may increase the likelihood of a company like Blizzard adding added post-launch content right into a game.

Microtransactions have gotten such a massive issue in gaming that politicians and government agencies around the world have moved to buy Diablo 4 Gold regulate them.
