Overview

  • As summer seems to still be in full swing, our young children set off back to school in the midst of summer. From the as a youth, dressing for my first day back to school in fall attire. Times change and we find our youngsters back to class in early to mid August. In the Midwest, that typically means a selection of 80 degrees to as much as 100 degrees, with humidity that's unbearable back to scool necklace . Clearly the standard long pants and new jacket just won't cut it. Which means buying some new shorts, skorts, capris and tanks to have through the initial month or so. Basically two entire wardrobes with regards to the weather. Many families struggle to get one wardrobe alone.

I heard on the headlines that the common family spends $500 per child on back to school clothes and shopping. Although, every mom would need to really have a fun shopping spree using their kids and so would they! Instead try the fun challenge to be a cheap, savvy shopper by hitting the clearance racks through the entire summer for a few great buys. Then spend more or even full retail price on several will need to have items of clothing so your son or daughter can stay fashion forward.

You would be amazed at what you can find at your neighborhood used thrift shop, yard sales and even eBay. I bought a couple of black jeans for $3.00 on a settlement rack that I later teamed up with an extremely stylish plaid top. The top's plaid material I hear is certainly one of this season's hottest fabrics. It came with a broad black belt. WOW! What a try to find $15.00. Try to find accessories which are the main garment. Just like the wide belt which was sold with the utmost effective, like that you can stretch your dollar farther.

Keep a listing in your purse of what you have color, etc., in order to shop to complete a whole outfit and accessorize to match. I came across an extremely cute fascia striped top. The detail of an asymmetric neckline managed to get a great buy for $2.00 at the neighborhood thrift shop. A few weeks later I came across khaki capris and a ring that made the whole outfit. A cool $11.00 for that look.

The key is to get things you need, keep an inventory with you. This way you won't over spend. Buy the basic principles cheap, things that never walk out style. Shop to complete an outfit. Try to find accessories which are added to a garment. Get your children involved. Teaching them to deal with money is an invaluable life skill that they will use over and over. It also gets the added good thing about bringing you and your children closer and teaches them responsibility and values. They learn to be wise using their money. If you like to search, spending time with your children makes finding a good deal that much sweeter.
