• Description : Paulsens Pharmacy has always been located in the same building, which was built in 1912 and finished the following year, 1913. It was once a Real Estate business before Nichols Pharmacy began its Pharmacy practice in the building in 1918. While employed there as a Pharmacist, Charles Paulsens eventually purchased the firm and rebranded it under his own name. Mr. Paulsen left Latourell, Kansas, in 1899. Mr. Paulsen was a tall friendly man who immediately became a local favorite of the Hollywood inhabitants. Mr. Paulsen went on to co-found two organizations that are still going strong today: the Hollywood business association and the Jr. Rose Festival Parade. The pharmacy's soda fountain has long been a mainstay. Construction took place in New York and delivery to Portland, Oregon. Children would stop by after school for a soda or milkshake, and adults would come in the morning to read the paper over a cup of coffee. The fountain has always been a favorite site for inhabitants in the Hollywood neighborhood.
