    Coating is a process in which a polymer layer is applied directly to one or both surfaces of the fabric. A blade or similar hole controls the thickness of the viscous polymer. The polymer layer must adhere to the fabric for effective coating. The coated fabric is further heated to cure the polymer layer. Where thick coatings are required, coatings can be established by applying successive coatings layer by layer.

    PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is essentially a rigid material and cannot be processed if it is not matched. PVC has good properties, such as good chemical properties, flame retardancy and low cost. By dispersing PVC in a plasticizer (called "Plastisol"), it can be converted into a suitable viscous fluid suitable for coating.
