The Seattle Seahawks got the ball first in this game that is being played across the Pond in London’s Wembley Stadium. Their first drive was a doozy
Womens Derek Carr Jersey , they went 86 yards in 14 plays which took 7:36 of game clock. They eventually scored on a 5 yard pass to WR Jaron Brown to make it 7-0 Seattle. The biggest play was a 23 yard catch that got them down to the 2, otherwise they just nickel and dimed their way down the field most of the time with short gains of 3 to 4 yards throughout the drive. The Raiders response to that long touchdown drive was to go 3 and out very quickly. However, the defense came up with a big 3rd down pass deflection at the line of scrimmage by Maurice Hurst to force a Seahawks punt this time around. The Oakland offense managed to get a couple of first downs on their next drive but a strip sack on 3rd down ended the drive. The ball should have been easily recovered by LT Kolton Miller but he dove and landed directly on the football which then squirted away to be recovered by a Seahawk at the Oakland 24. Seattle scored a few plays later on 3rd and 5 on a 19 yard pass to David Moore to make the score 14-0. The shotgun snap was bobbled on the touchdown play but Russell Wilson corralled the ball and still managed to throw the touchdown pass anyway. The Raiders added injury to insult on their next drive when Amari Cooper was laid out by an illegal helmet to helmet hit that the refs somehow missed despite the league emphasis on removing hits exactly like that. Cooper was able to walk away after a few moments but headed straight for the locker room to be checked for a possible/probable (confirmed) concussion. It was 3rd and 20 after that when Derek Carr hit Jalen Richard who sprinted for a big first down. They then got a 15 yard facemask to negate a sack on the next play to Seattle’s side of the 50 for the first time of the day. They then got two more 3rd down conversions after that as well, one on a pass to Jared Cook and one from a scrambling Derek Carr. They couldn’t continue the magic next time though, they gave up a sack on their next 3rd down. The sack was huge because Matt McCain missed the 48 yard field goal so the score remained 14-0.Oakland forced Seattle to punt for the first time on the next drive, though thanks in part to the loose turf causing Seattle’s WR Doug Baldwin to slip before getting the easy first down on 3rd down. They didn’t take advantage of it though, they got to the Seattle 41but failed to convert on a 4th and inches QB sneak attempt. They tried to rush to the line to surprise the Seahawks but they got stuffed short for the turnover on downs. The Seahawks got the ball back with 39 seconds in the half and immediately got into scoring position with a 28 yard pass to the Oakland 31. They’d only get a few yards closer before attempting a field goal in the closing seconds of the game. Former Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski kicked the 44 yard field goal good to close the half with a 17-0 Seattle lead.Oakland got the ball first to start the 2nd half, starting at the 25 after a touchback on the kick. A one yard run and a sack led to a 3rd down play that featured Kolton Miller being knocked over backwards into Derek Carr who simply dropped the football while being sacked on the play. Carr’s second lost fumble of the day gave Seattle the ball at the Oakland 11. The Raiders defense did hold Seattle to a 26 yard field goal at least, partly in thanks to an Arden Key sack. The field goal made the score 20-0.The Raiders offense still could not get anything going and had to punt again. Once again Derek Carr could have scrambled for a first down on a 3rd down play for the Raiders but instead attempted a difficult throw to Jordy Nelson that fell incomplete to force the Raiders punt. Seattle looked primed to add to their 20-0 lead after the punt with a couple of 1st downs and a 42 yard pass to Doug Baldwin down to the Raiders 11. However, Russell Wilson threw into a crowd on the next play and Daryl Worley came away with an interception on a deflected pass. They did nothing with the turnover though and a bad punt from Johnny Townsend left the Seahawks starting their next drive at their own 38. This time Seattle wouldn’t be stopped as they went down for another score. They scored with a great throw from Russell Wilson on a 10 yard Tyler Lockett touchdown reception to make the score 27-0. The drive covered 49 yards in 8 plays but featured a questionable lowering the head penalty on Raiders LB Bruce Irvin who literally did a flip trying to avoid a sliding Russell Wilson but still got called for an added 15 yard penalty on the play.Oakland finally got on the board on their next drive, though it was just a field goal to make score 27-3. The 12 play
Gareon Conley Jersey , 51 yard drive at least kept the Raiders from being shut out. The longest play was 15 yards as they drove down for the 43 yard field goal. However, they lost Seth Roberts to a concussion on the drive and Derek Carr landed awkwardly on his left arm as well in what looked like a possible injury to the QB though he appeared ok afterwards on the sidelines.Seattle got the ball back with just over 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter and quite impressively (and mercifully) proceeded to run the rest of the game clock out. Final score in this one was an ugly 27-3 loss in London. Consider Gil Brandt a fan of what the Raiders have been doing lately. The longtime NFL man put together his list of the top five NFL offseasons and the Raiders landed in the number two spot, behind only the Cleveland Browns. Here is what Brandt had to say about the Raiders offseason.A team with an historically bad defense should be focusing on that side of the ball. After the Raiders signed just one defensive player in the first wave of free agency (Lamarcus Joyner) they had no choice but to lean heavily to defense in the draft, making six of their nine players — three pass rushers and three defensive backs — defensive prospects. From 4-12 and with what ended up being well over $100 million to spend in free agency and four picks in the top 40 of the draft, there was a lot of room to improve and a lot of ammo to use to improve it.Follow @LeviDamien
