Here I put these two concepts in contrast because, according to my conception, they postulate two ways of seeing the world of music and its business. When someone enters “the musical career”, they are part of a kind of system in which they always look for more and it is never enough. A musical career is very often associated with ambition, especially if the emotional roots and vision of reality are not solidified real custom sound cloud plays. The race requires linking to systems, sticking to trends, driving on toll highways, wanting more audiences, more territories, more exposure, more, more and more. One can get very frustrated in this logic, because there comes a time when there is no more, but the same.

The musical path, however, starts from a personal logic, from a search that starts from within and takes what it finds along the way as learning. It is a route where there is no place to arrive, but rather each experience nourishes creation and personal experience, where each fan and each collaborator is part of their own network. The musical path seeks perfection from the point of view of personal improvement and not from exposure. Although many times that gift also comes as a reward. Both choices are viable and can even be compatible if you walk calmly in life and with the focus well placed.

Success and success

In the music industry, successism is a fairly widespread evil. It is linked to aspiration, as it makes you act according to the lights of the moment and stop following your instinct. When success dominates your life, you enter a process of depersonalization that exhausts you. You end up spending a lot of energy “being on top” and pleasing others. One needs certain milestones to progress, for example, being on a poster for the Vive Latino festival in Mexico, which is a successful fact. However, if that achievement is visualized as success, we are limiting the meaning of our development and giving power away from us. Keep in mind that success is not synonymous with success.

What is success for you?

The importance you give to the things that define you is what gives you peace in the end to face your own life. To find your own definition of success, it is vital that you think about what aspects do you good, give you happiness and make you whole. I, for example, feel successful for being free and the owner of my decisions, doing the things I like. I feel lucky for all the people and places I have met and for the life experiences I have accumulated thanks to music. Music, in my case, has also been a means of personal growth and a place of refuge. I believe that if you remain faithful to your beliefs and walk the path without betraying yourself, you are already successful. To give up is to accept defeat, and I believe that to feel alive one can never give up.
