The train rattled along
the tracks,
its rhythmic clatter filling
the otherwise silent night. Through the foggy windows, fields
and forests blurred by, illuminated
only by the occasional flicker of a distant farmhouse light. Inside
the carriage, the passengers sat in quiet solitude,
each lost in their
own thoughts,
the soft hum of the engine a constant companion. A man in a
worn trench coat stared absently at his reflection in
the glass, while an elderly woman nodded off, her book slipping
from her lap. The air smelled faintly of coffee
and rain-soaked earth, and
with every passing mile, the world outside grew darker, as if the train was leaving reality behind, journeying into the unknown.
