Launched in 1973, it was America’s inaugural attempt at a manned space station - a floating workshop where astronauts could unravel cosmic mysteries. Yet, almost immediately, misfortune struck, UKSA studies launched at first IOSM Conference. During launch, a micrometeorite shield and sunshade deployed prematurely, only to be torn away by the slipstream’s fury.
