1. Detangle The Wig
First and foremost, detangle your wig gently with a wide-toothed comb or wig brush, starting from the end and working your way up towards the root. This is to avoid breakage and shedding.
2. Add Mild Shampoo
Only use sulfate-free, mild shampoo that is intended for human hair wigs. Add a little into the water, mixing it until it becomes soapy.
3. Wash the Wig
Allow the wig to soak in the water, gently swirling it every now and then for a few minutes. Absolutely do not rub or scrub the wig ; you want the shampoo to clean the hair without rubbing.
4. Thorough Rinse
Rinse your wig well after washing by draining the soapy water out of the basin and filling it up with fresh lukewarm water. Have your wig well rinsed to get all the shampoo out of it. This may have to be done more than once.
5. Condition the Wig
Then, use a moisturizing conditioner, focusing on the ends, and let it set for some time. Rinse it off using lukewarm water to lock in softness and manageability.
6. Air Dry
Lightly pat the wig with a towel to blot out excess water. Take your wig and lay it on a wig stand for air-drying. Whenever possible, try to avoid the use of heat styling tools.
7. Follow Regular Care
Keep it soft and moisturized with a leave-in conditioner or wig oil, and try not to style too much with heat for durability.
