The city streets
were alive
with the hum of activity, neon lights flickering against
the glassy surface of rain-soaked pavement. Cars rushed by in a blur of motion,
their headlights casting long reflections
that danced like ghosts in
the night. A lone figure stood at
the edge of
the sidewalk, umbrella in
hand, watching the world move around
them. The distant rumble of thunder echoed through
the maze of skyscrapers, but no
one seemed to notice, lost in
their own hurried lives. Above,
the clouds hung low, heavy
with the promise of more rain, as the city pulsed beneath them, indifferent and eternal.
