Can I wash my lace front wig like real hair?

  • Yes, you can actually wash a lace front wigs; it's a special process compared with washing natural hair. There is a good reason why lace front wigs-even human hair ones-are particularly delicate, so when handling them, you have to be extremely gentle. Here's how you can do it with a pro's touch.

    Step 1: Detangle Before Washing
Clean your wig delicately with your hands before you wash it. Once you have removed the tangles, use a wide-tooth comb or a wig brush from the bottom upwards to avoid tugging and pulling on the hair or lace.
    Step 2: The Right Products
Choose your sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner which is specifically for wigs or your natural hair. Sulfates remove the natural oil of your wig and leave it dry; mild, moisturizing products are always a better choice.
    Step 3: Gently Wash
Put the wig in a basin. Add only a small amount of shampoo and enough lukewarm water to cover it. Don't scrub or rub it on the hair. You want to simply swish the wig around to let the shampoo get into and around the fibers. Make sure to pay attention to washing lace without tugging at the hair.
    Step 4: Rinse And Condition
Rinse the wig with cold water until all the shampoo is removed from the wig. Use an adequate amount of conditioner, but put it in your wig where the hair is so you do not apply it to the lace, thereby not allowing build-up. Leave it for a few minutes before rinsing out the conditioner from the wig using cold water.
    Step 5: Dry Appropriately
You then squeeze it gently, letting out the excess water. Do not wring it out, and lay it flat on a towel to air dry. Do not use heat or rub it up so hard.
And that is how you can safely wash your lace front wig without compromising its quality and making it last longer.
