NEW YORK, N.
Mitchell Trubisky Jersey .Y. - Kevin Durant scored 29 points, Russell Westbrook had a triple-double by the middle of the third quarter, and the Oklahoma City Thunder rolled to a 123-94 victory Wednesday over the New York Knicks, who played without Carmelo Anthony. The Durant-Anthony showdown between the NBAs top two scorers was cancelled because of Anthonys sprained left ankle, so the Thunder had the Christmas spotlight all to themselves while winning for the 10th time in 11 games. Westbrook finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in his first triple-double of the season and seventh of his career. Serge Ibaka added 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Amare Stoudemire scored a season-high 22 points, and Tim Hardaway Jr. had 21 for the Knicks, who also were missing starting point guard Raymond Felton. J.R. Smith scored 20 points, but shot 8 for 22 and was booed when he left the court for good. Anthony was forced to sit out for the first time this season. The Knicks were never really in it without him and may not have had a chance with him the way the Thunder played. The Knicks not only had trouble with the Thunder, but also with the special edition sleeved jerseys NBA teams are wearing on Christmas. Beno Udrih hit the side of the backboard on two shot attempts in the first half, tugging on his sleeve after the second as if blaming his struggles on his equipment. Oklahoma City had a much easier time in the uniforms. Coach Scott Brooks said before the game the Thunder hadnt had a formal practice in them, but players had shot around the last few days in the jerseys that featured a giant logo in the middle of the chest and jersey numbers on the left sleeve. "They look great. Hopefully, we play well in them," Brooks said. They played superbly. Coming off a 104-98 loss to Toronto on Sunday that ended a nine-game winning streak and was their first setback at home this season, they shot 54 per cent and got 18 points from Reggie Jackson. Durant made all five shots in the first quarter, with the Thunder leading 35-29 after shooting 70 per cent. Jackson and Durant made 3-pointers to start the second, making Oklahoma City 16 of 22. Ibaka did most of the work in an 8-2 spurt midway through the period that extended the lead to 52-35, and the Thunder led 60-46 at halftime. They kept up the pressure in the third, Durant and Westbrook taking turns being unguardable on the perimeter, and Oklahoma City went on to its sixth straight road victory. Anthony was hurt Monday night in a victory at Orlando, saying afterward he hoped to play Wednesday. But he looked glum and wasnt walking particularly well by the locker room area after getting treatment and testing the ankle, and the Knicks announced he wouldnt be in uniform about 50 minutes before the start. He sat on the bench wearing a brown sports jacket, getting up slowly during timeouts whenever the Knicks called them in a futile attempt to stop the Thunders onslaught. Anthony averaged 28.7 points last season, ending Durants three-year reign as scoring champion, but Durant has moved right back to the top this season with 28.1 to Anthonys 26.3. The Knicks fell to 0-7 in orange uniforms this season. Notes: Chris Smith, J.R.s brother, made his NBA debut with a scoreless minute at the end. ... Kenyon Martin returned to the Knicks after missing five games with a strained left abdominal muscle. ... Knicks coach Mike Woodson said he thought Felton (strained right groin) would see more doctors Thursday, perhaps getting a better idea how long he would be out. The Knicks were also without Metta World Peace, who has been battling a sore left knee.
Danny Trevathan Jersey . After two months of mediocrity, perhaps the Washington Nationals have turned the page. Strasburg struck out 11 in seven innings Wednesday night and the Nationals kept the Philadelphia Phillies bats quiet yet again in an 8-4, rain-interrupted win.
Taylor Gabriel Jersey . But defending champion Elena Vesnina of Russia held off a strong challenge to beat Shuai Peng of China 6-3, 6-4, and there was another hard-fought victory for 2012 runner-up Angelique Kerber of Germany, who defeated Alison Riske of the United States 7-6 (6), 6-4. MONTREAL -- The Hamilton Bulldogs second line had it going Friday night. Michael Blunden scored twice and Gabriel Dumont added another as the Bulldogs defeated the Syracuse Crunch 4-1 in American Hockey League action in front of 8,002 fans at the Bell Centre in Montreal. "Weve been working well since weve been put together," said Blunden of Dumont and Justin Courtnall, his third linemate. "I really enjoy our line. We just have to keep going. "Were playing good hockey right now. Were scoring goals. Things are good right now. Justin and Gabe (Dumont) just work their butts off." Blundens line was responsible for three of four goals, and five total points. "Its been good since the beginning of the year," said Dumont, who scored his first goal of the year mid-way through the second period. "Tonight, the puck went in for our line. We always play well, especially recently. Were playing solidly." Blunden scored late in the first period after a couple of beautiful manoeuvres from Dumont and the 26-year-old forward returned the favour in the third, feeding Dumont to make the score 3-0 at that point. Bulldogs (8-7-3) head coach Sylvain Lefebvre played his second line against Syracuses top line, which includes NHL-calibre players Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov, and was pleased with the result. "Theyre doing the job," said Lefebvre. "Dumont scored, Blunden got two goals. Their line is playing good, solid, physical hockey - really good hockey. All in all, it was a great night. "(Dumont) has had a lot of scoring chances since the start of the season. Scoring his first of the season was a weight lifted off his shoulders Im sure." Goaltender Dustin Tokarski madde 25 saves on 26 shots for Hamilton.
Allen Robinson Jersey. . Syracuses (9-5-2) Jean-Philippe Cote ruined Tokarskis shutout bid late in the third period. Tokarski now has a 2.07 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage. The Bulldogs opened the scoring when Blunden put his fourth of the year over Crunch goaltender Cedrick Desjardins shoulder at 15:55 of the first. Dumont was instrumental on the play, dodging a hit along the boards and skillfully avoiding a sprawling Luke Witkowksi in front of the net before feeding the puck to Blunden. "We practice 2-on-1s pretty often," said Dumont of the play. "I knew he was going to post up there. I just saw him out there. I knew if I had (Witkowski) beat, when he dove, that if I just left it there for him, he was going to score." Morgan Ellis doubled Hamiltons lead when his slap shot from the blue line beat Desjardins at 11:00 of the second period. It was also his first of the year. The Bulldogs kept pressing and scored again two minutes later on another 2-on-1 when Blunden unselfishly dished the puck to a wide-open Dumont. Syracuse defenceman Cote, who played five seasons with Hamilton and eight career NHL games with the Canadiens in 2005, scored a consolation goal for the Crunch at 15:13 of the third period. Blunden added an empty-netter. With the win, the Bulldogs extended their win streak to three games and jumped to 8th in the Western Conference with 19 points. Syracuse and Hamilton face off again Saturday night at the War Memorial Arena in New York. Notes: Hamilton leading-scorer Sven Andrighetto is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and did not face the Crunch. a Syracuse beat Hamilton 4-1 at the Bell Centre last season in front of 18,582 fans.
