As part of the Ocean Energy Systems (OES) intergovernmental program, which is being implemented under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA), an annual report has been published highlighting progress in tidal and wave energy. The report also describes the mechanisms used around the world to accelerate its development. More news

According to the data, the annual generation of tidal and wave power plants worldwide has grown almost tenfold over the past decade - from less than 5 GWh in 2009 to 45 GWh in 2019.
“Significant projects and initiatives are planned over the coming years as decarbonization trends intensify and governments around the world are showing increased interest in ocean energy technologies,” said OES chief Henry Jeffrey of the University of Edinburgh.
For example, Spain has proposed a target of 25 MW of ocean power capacity by 2025, which is to grow to 50 MW by 2030. Scotland, in turn, supports the development of technology in this area through its dedicated £ 10 million Fund.
