Samuel Akinsira, 33, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when cops conducted a search warrant on his personal car on Snyder Avenue near Nostrand Avenue in East Flatbush, authorities said.
Officers found a loaded .380-caliber Ruger and another defaced firearm inside, cops said.
It’s unclear if the defaced gun was also loaded.
Police also found two ballistic vests, two other body vests, an NYPD traffic vest, two NYPD-like retention holsters, an NYPD-like gun belt and a fraudulent police shield, authorities said. Akinsira was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a defaced weapon and two counts of unlawful wearing of a body vest, police said.
“Illegal guns are egregious and inconsistent with the values of NYC Transit,” said MTA spokeswoman Kayla Shults.
“After being arrested for possession of an illegal gun during a car stop while off duty, this employee was immediately removed from service without pay.”
