ORCHARD PARK, N.
Melvin Frazier Jersey .Y. - Its no secret to Fred Jackson that the Buffalo Bills have struggled running the ball this season.Little did the veteran running back realize how historically bad the production has been. Jackson was taken aback when informed the Bills are in jeopardy of setting a franchise-low over a 16-game season heading into their final game at New England (12-3) on Sunday.Well, then lets make sure that doesnt happen, Jackson said. Its a number that provides added incentive in a game Buffalo (8-7) has very little to play for after being eliminated from playoff contention following a 26-24 loss at Oakland last week.Thats not something you want on your resume, he said. The teams once-formidable ground attack has been slowed to a crawl. With 1,378 yards rushing, the Bills are 174 yards short of matching the teams 16-game low of 1,552 yards in 2006. That wont be easy for an offence that hasnt topped 120 yards rushing since gaining 193 in its season-opener at Chicago. This years production is a significant drop-off for a Jackson- and C.J. Spiller-led backfield that finished second in the NFL last season with 2,307 yards rushing — the teams best output since 1992. Then there was two years ago, when Spiller had a career-best 1,244 yards and finished second in the NFL by averaging a more than 6 yards per carry.I dont have the answer as to what and why we havent been able to run the ball the way that we are accustomed to, Jackson said. Were sitting here frustrated because we havent lived up to what we thought we were capable of doing. The Bills ground game has been so bad that the team has not had an individual player reach 100 yards rushing so far this year. The Bills have gone an entire season without a 100-yard rusher only three times, the last in 1979.And, Buffalo is coming off a game in which it managed 13 yards rushing — the fourth lowest total in team history.Injuries have been an issue. Jackson missed two games with a groin injury and has also been bothered by a sore knee. Spiller broke his collarbone and missed seven games before returning last week.Centre Eric Wood said the offensive line hasnt done its part either.Really no excuses other than a lack of execution, Wood said. And a lot of that falls on us up front.Coach Doug Marrone is particularly disappointed by the play of his line. He is considering spending the off-season starting from scratch and retraining the unit.Buffalos running game could be in store for an off-season upheaval.Though Jackson has one more year left on his contract, Spillers future is uncertain. The Bills 2010 first-round draft pick is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent if he declines to pick up the option on the final year of his contract.Only time will tell, Spiller said, when asked if hes made a decision. I aint really focusing on that. Im just focusing on the Patriots. Its unclear what Spillers value might be in free agency because of the time he missed this season.Spiller discounted that as being a factor, saying he established his value in the previous four years.NOTES: DT Marcell Dareus missed practice because of a right knee injury and its uncertain whether he will play Sunday. ... CB Stephon Gilmores status is also uncertain because he is being monitored for a concussion. ... The Bills are off Thursday before returning to practice Friday.___AP NFL website:

The teams were taken off the field after 43 minutes with the score 1-1, and Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic went to the centre circle to broadcast an appeal for fans to stop throwing lit flares and bottles. Referee Nikolaj Haeni of Switzerland brought players back after a 15-minute break to play the final two minutes of the first half, then immediately changed ends to start the second period. When El Arabi Soudani scored the decisive goal in the 66th minute, around 15 fans ran on the pitch from three sides of the Stade de Geneve. Nabil Bentaleb had put Algeria ahead in the 21st minute after a handling error by Romania goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, and Alexandru Chipciu levelled in the 28th. "The result is very satisfying. The team is progressing on all levels," said Halilhodzic, adding he was "a bit disappointed with the behaviour of our supporters." The final whistle brought around 1,000 of the 15,600 spectators on to the field. Many dispersed when water sprinklers were turned on, though some continued to clash with stewards in one corner of the pitch. Abdelmoumene Djabou and Bentaleb gave Romania right-back Vlad Chiriches, Bentalebs Tottenham teammate, a tough time and Algerias best moves flowed there. Sofiane Feghouli twice wasted clear shooting chances in the 17th minute, before Algeria led when Manchester City keeper Pantilimon spilled Djabous cross. Bentaleb and Feghouli converged on the loose ball which looped into the empty goal. The goal sparked a firework display around the stadium with at least 15 flares burning in the stands. Romania levelled seven minutes later when Alexandru Chipciu beat the offside line, rounded goalkeeper Rais MBolhi who had charged out of his penalty area, and rolled the ball into an unguarded goal. Fan trouble resumed in the second period when an Algerian supporter encroached on the pitch in the 57th as his team prepared to take a corner. A mini-pitch invasion followed Algeria retaking the lead in the 66th when El Arabi Soudani connected with Saphir Taiders pass from the right side of the penalty area. ' ' '
