  How does a lotion pump work?
  The lotion pump acts as a suction device that sucks the product from the inside of the bottle up to the outside, and then into the user's hands. There is a tube running down the bottle, which will force air and lotion out of the bottle when the handle is pressed. The lotion flows upwards along the outer edges of the tube and bottle without causing confusion. It may seem that the product is affected by gravity when it moves upwards in the pipe, but it is actually forced out by the internal air.
