Many who argue about Runescape’s imminent death

  • October 6, 2021
Many who argue about Runescape’s imminent death (many are also trying to OSRS Gold mock the recent content of the game) frequently use the Google trend for Runescape.com. This graph is available in case you don't know it. You might think this graph is more threatening than what it really is. It looks like the game has zero activity, but it clearly has plenty.

On first glance, it appears as if the sport is dying and it has been for a long time. It's hard to deny this. Since the peak (December 2006), Runescape has overall been heading down. It is important to note that other similar games, like World of Warcraft, have also had a decrease in popularity. However, there are still some positive signs for the game.

If you are able to ignore the large decrease in activity, then you'll notice that activity has decreased to a trickle towards end of graph. The graph shows that activity has not decreased significantly over the past year and a half of it is for real players. The elimination of bots has led to a decrease in perceived activity, however the reduction in regular player has been small.

Does this mean that Runescape isn’t dying? Not necessarily. But, it's dying faster than people believe. Runescape has lost 3 Google Trend activity points over the last year and a quarter. For comparison, Runescape has lost 43 of Google Trends' activity points during the time between July 2009 and now (again, a year-and-a half). Anyone who plans to Cheap RS Gold attend the funeral of Runescape should not expect to take leave from working in the near future.
