Hill aired some grievances about the Chiefs' offense in the premiere of his new podcast "It Needed to be Said." He specifically expre sed that he wasn't utilized consistently during his final season with the Chiefs.

Hill cited his performance in Weeks 1 and 2 as examples of this. He had 11 catches for 197 yards in the team's season opener against the Browns before registering just three catches for 14 yards on four targets in Week 2 against the Ravens.

As such, Hill's comment was an odd one, even if it was just meant to be in support of his new quarterback.

Mahomes admitted he was "surprised a little" by Hill's comments about the Chiefs. However, he ultimately chalked them up to a few different things, one of which was Hill's competitive spirit.
Obviously, when youre the competitor that he is thats the thing I loved about Tyreek and I still love, is he wants to win. And I feel like with the coverages that we were getting, defenses were really accounting for him, so we had to go other places, Mahomes said at a minicamp news conference. But when hes a competitor like that, you want to have a chance to impact the game. So I know he wanted to get the ball as much as po sible so he could help us win. It wasnt a selfish thing.

Indeed, Mahomes isn't going to dwell on Hill's comments. He also understands that Hill was probably just trying to support his new teammates in Miami by hyping up Tagovailoa and his excitement to play with the Dolphins.
