  • September 2, 2022
As the invitees and patrons prepare to make their way down Magnolia Lane, golf fans acro s the world eagerly await Masters weekend.Bubba Watson returns to Augusta todefend his titleand win his third green jacket in four years. J.B. Holmes and Jordan Spieth, who were locked in a playoff tu sle last week, look strong as they pursue their first major wins. Rory McIlroy is in search of the career grand slam. And Tiger Woods is teeing it up for the first time in two months.MORE: || PHOTOS: The excitement is palpable, and story lines are plentiful at the 2015 Masters. Our top picks (in order of predicted finish):Bubba Watson: It's hard to pick against the defending champion. Watson tamed the dangerous Amen Corner last year by hitting a pitching wedge into the green for his second shot on the par-5 13th hole. Augusta has been lengthened a lot over the years, which gives power hitters like Watson an edge.World Golf Ranking: 3Dustin Johnson: Like Watson, he is a monster hitter whocan cut the corner on Augusta's challenging doglegs. He's contended for stretches here in https://www.raysjerseysonestop.com/tampa-bay-rays-jersey/evan-longoria-jersey the past, but hasn't been able to put four rounds together. He's been in fine form since coming back from his six-month leave of absenceand could break through for his first major championship.WGR: 7MORE: | Linemakers: | PHOTOS: Rory McIlroy: The 25-year-old Northern Irishman has garnered a lot of hype off the course this past week when he posed shirtle s for "Men's Health Magazine." McIlroy grabs his fair share of headlines on the course as well, especially when he goes up against Tiger. He falls to third on our list this weekas he seeks the career grand slam. It will be important for him to get off to a quick start and silence the critics.WGR: 1Jordan Spieth: He is a machine right now. If you remember how good McIlroy was at the end of last year, Spieth is inching close to that lofty form this season. In his last three starts, he's notched awin, finishedsecond and lost in a three-man https://www.raysjerseysonestop.com/tampa-bay-rays-jersey/brent-honeywell-jersey playoff last week. Fatigue could be an i sue for the 21-year-old, who's played four of the last five weeks. But we trust he knew what he was doing when making his schedule. Spieth finished second here last yearand could improve upon that finish this year. WGR: 4Adam Scott: Some worry about Scott's putter indecision. We do not. The only concern we have about the amiable Au sieis Steve Williams is no longer his caddy. It was Williams that got Scott focused on golf and made him a near-automatic top-5 in majors. He did finish in a tie for second here in 2011 without Williams, and won in 2013, so he should be competitive again this year.WGR: 6MORE: | | PHOTOS: Jimmy Walker: He has five wins since theend of 2013, good for the most on tour during that time. Yetthe https://www.raysjerseysonestop.com/tampa-bay-rays-jersey/christian-arroyo-jersey soft-spoken late-bloomer doesn't generate a lot of hype heading into the big tournaments. Some of that is warranted, as Walker hasn't really contended in a major. But he hits the ball long and straightand po se ses a beautiful putting stroke. He has wins by nine and four strokes this year, proving he knows how to close the door when in the lead.WGR: 10Jason Day: He has been quiet since he won the Farmers Insurance Open, then finished fourth at Pebble Beach. But the most important thing is he's healthy. Day, 27, has grown into one of the best players on tour, albeit an enigmatic one. He owns two top-3 finishes a Augustaand plays with a bulldog mentality. It's only a matter of time before the Au sie joins Adam Scott as a Masters champion. WGR: 5MORE: | LINEMAKERS: | Henrik Stenson: He withdrew from the Shell Houston Open last week with the flubut appears to be healthy this week. The powerful Swede is entering now-or-never mode for his elusive major at 39 years of age. He rarely hits a driver, often teeing it up with his 3-wood (which he hits over 300 yards) to gain better accuracy. Like many of the other contenders, it all comes down to how he's rolling the flatstick. WGR: 2Brandt Snedeker: He willed himself to victory at Pebble Beach to secure a spot in this tournament. Snedeker, 34, has often called this his favorite tournament and the one he'd like to win the most. That kind of focus can help or hurt a player, depending on how much pre sure they put on themselves. He has had some succe s here in the past, finishing tied for thirdin 2008 and tied for sixthin 2013.WGR: 35Phil Mickelson: He hasn't had a dramatic fall like Tiger Woods, but he's slowly fading out of the form that made him one of the best. No matter where his game is coming into Augusta, the two-time Masters champ should be among the names talked about. His struggles on the green are worrying, though.WGR: 22J.B. Holmes: The former Kentucky golfer avenged his Wildcats' lo s in the men's basketball Final Four with a dramatic playoff win in Houston. There aren't many players, if any, that can hit the ball as far as Holmes. That being said, Holmes will have to be more accurate this week than he was last weekor he'll be hitting a lot of third shots into the green. It's been a great year for him so far. It could get even better after this week.WGR: 12Patrick Reed:Bad news first, right?Reed has yet to finish in the top https://www.raysjerseysonestop.com/tampa-bay-rays-jersey/jesus-sucre-jersey 25 of a major championship. The good news:He's only 24 years old and has four wins and a runner-up finish in the last year and a half. Reed certainly doesn't lack in confidence, but Augusta is a course you need to be patient onand have experience to win. Let's call this a valuable experience year for Reed that could turn into more. WGR: 15Zach Johnson: He won the Masters in 2007 by taking his time approachingthepar-5s. With all of the changes made to the course, that really doesn't seem po sible anymore. But "short" hitters creep up on the leaderboard at Augusta almost every year.WGR: 25Billy Horschel: Backwardcaps and white slacks could become the theme at Augusta if Horschel can put together another run like he did at the end of last season. The Florida Gator won the last two tournaments of the FedEx Cup to take home the $ https://www.raysjerseysonestop.com/tampa-bay-rays-jersey/chris-archer-jersey 10 million prize, and has shown signs of life recently in 2015.WGR: 18Victor Dubui son: You may have forgotten the quiet Frenchman, for the last time he made headlines on the PGA Tour was when he was hitting improbable chip shots from the cacti in the Match-Play last year. His soft hands and consistent putting stroke could land him in contention despite his lack of experience on the course.WGR: 20Others to watchLouis Oosthuizen: He has the swing and putting stroke to compete once again at Augusta. He lost in a playoff here to Watson in 2012, and has looked healthy so far this season. WGR: 37Paul Casey:
