DIC Epoxy is making significant strides in the realm of green initiatives, aligning itself with the DIC 2030 Vision – by embracing the power of Solar Project to reduce carbon footprint and energy consumptions, while contributing back to the environment through CSR Activities.
DIC Epoxy’s Solar Project: Harnessing Solar Power for a Greener Tomorrow
In line with DIC’s visionary 2030 roadmap, DIC Epoxy has embarked on an ambitious green initiative aimed at harnessing the power of the sun to reduce its carbon footprint.
Welcoming Bright Beginnings & Seizing Opportunities
Solar PV systems represent the cutting edge of renewable energy sources. In recent years, the Malaysian government has proactively promoted solar PV systems by incentivizing their adoption. DIC Epoxy saw the opportunity to contribute to this renewable energy revolution, which is aligned to DIC’s larger mission to reduce CO2 gas emissions by 50% by the year 2030.
The Roadmap to Implementation – To Reduce Energy Consumption & CO2 Emissions
DIC Epoxy has been diligently working toward reducing energy consumption and curbing CO2 emissions. As early as 2018, the company initiated a comprehensive study on the feasibility of installing solar PV systems, which culminated in the decision to move forward with this project. The solar PV system was initially installed atop the cold storage warehouse, marking a significant milestone in their pursuit of a greener future:
The first phase included installation of solar energy system on top of the finished goods storage warehouse building – marking its completion by the end of 2020.

Future State: Positive Environmental Impact
Since the installation of this solar energy system, DIC Epoxy looks forward to achieving around 30% of CO2 emission reduction monthly on warehouse energy consumption.
“As part of the DIC Group’s sustainability strategies to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by fiscal year 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, DIC Epoxy is pleased to announce the completion of the second phase of Solar Project in July 2023. The first phase solar panel system installed on top of warehouse was completed in 2020 and we were granted the Green Investment Tax Allowance (tax incentive) in honor of our commitment to green technology projects for business. We have also taken steps to enhance energy efficiency, for significant energy savings, such as converting an old compressor into a highly energy-efficient one. Our commitment is to a greener and more sustainable future, in alignment with DIC Vision 2030.” – Terufumi Asano, Managing Director at DIC Epoxy
Throughout the implementation, safety was also practiced around all premises.

Green Initiative in Action: DIC Epoxy Joins Hands for Mangrove Conservation
DIC Epoxy participated in a significant event aimed at preserving and safeguarding the natural treasures of Johor, Malaysia. The event, organized by the Johor Port Authority in collaboration with Tanjung Pelepas Port and Johor National Park Corporation, took place on the 7th of August 2023, within the pristine environs of Taman Negara Tanjung Piai in Pontian, Johor.

About This Initiative
Taman Negara Tanjung Piai, situated in the Pontian District of Johor, encompasses a sprawling 926-hectare national park that safeguards the coastal mangrove and forest area on the southernmost tip of the Asian continent, at Tanjung Piai. Recognized as a promontory of immense ecological significance, it is a predominantly wetland area traversed by five rivers. The mangrove swamps surrounding Tanjung Piai have been designated as the Tanjung Piai National Park to ensure the preservation of this unique environment.
While the development of the Pasir Gudang Port and Tanjung Pelepas Port led to the transformation of some mangrove swamp forest areas, a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative was undertaken to mitigate these effects.
Collective Efforts with Foresight for Environmental Preservation
DIC Epoxy, in collaboration with the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), the Johor National Park Corporation, government agencies, and port users, launched the “Mangrove Tree Planting and Conservation Initiative Program.” The objective is to plant a total of 160,000 mangrove trees over a five-year period until 2027 in the Tanjung Piai National Park, contributing significantly to the region’s environmental preservation.
