The Green Industry Series: DSCI Celebrates Several Projects that Reduces CO2 Emissions
DIC Siam Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (DSCI) is dedicated to conducting its business in harmony with environmental responsibility. In 2023, the company initiated the installation of two new reactors, RK-29 and RK-41, to support the growing demand for products in the HYDRAN and ACRYDIC sectors. Recognizing the importance of addressing climate change, the company has also embarked on several improvement projects.
In 2024, promoted by the Board of Investment (BOI), the company implemented four key projects: 350-ton Electric Chiller, 5-ton Smart Boiler, Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO), and 917 kWp Solar Rooftop. These initiatives were completed by 2024, focused on reducing energy consumption, promoting the use of clean energy and minimizing CO2 emissions. These efforts are in line with DIC Corporation’s sustainability goals, aiming to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.
On March 5, 2025, the company’s President, Director, Management Team and employee representatives participated in the grand opening ceremony of the New Reactor RK-29 & RK-41 Project and the BOI-promoted projects.
During the event, Mr. Keattisak Obpirompu, Assistant Manager of the Production Technic Department and representative of the New Reactor RK-29 and RK-41 installation team, together with Mr. Komsan Kaenpakdee, Chief of the Utility Department and representative of the project team for all four BOI-promoted initiatives, presented a report outlining the background and progress of the projects.
Mr. Yoshihiro Takizawa, President of DIC Siam Chemical Industry, officially launched the RK-29 and RK-41 Reactors and BOI-promoted projects with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark these important milestones.
A large-scale reactor for HYDRAN, RK-29 increases monthly production from 90 tons to 283 tons—tripling capacity. It also features a faster steam system developed by DIC Japan, significantly improving efficiency.
Designed for ACRYDIC products, RK-41 reactor boosts production by 24%, enabling DSCI to better meet growing customer demand, improve product quality, and support future expansion.
This project replaces the old natural gas-powered ABS chiller with an electric chiller system. Installed from April to July 2024, it is expected to reduce energy consumption by 86% and CO₂ emissions by approximately 675 TonCO2e/Year.
5 Tons Smart Boiler Project:
Installed between July and September 2024, the new Smart Boiler improves steam production efficiency and reduces energy consumption by 23%, lowering CO₂ emissions by about 200 TonCO2e/Year.
RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer) Project:
An air pollution control system using high-temperature combustion (800°C) to eliminate VOCs and odors. This system uses preheated ceramic heat exchange media which enhances energy efficiency. Installed from August to November 2024, it is projected to cut energy use by 86% and reduce CO₂ emissions by roughly 856 TonCO2e/Year.
Solar Rooftop 917 kWp Project (Phase 2):
Following the initial 704 kWp installation, this phase expanded solar coverage to WH-A, WH-B, WH-C, and the Delivery Yard. Completed between May and November 2024, it is expected to generate over 1,095,659 kWp of electricity per year (from solar energy) and cut CO₂ emissions by around 503 TonCO2e/Year.
By investing in cutting-edge production technology and eco-friendly systems, DSCI continues to align with DIC Group’s global goals—meeting growing market demands while minimizing environmental impact.
