DIC Philippines Turns to Renewable Energy with ACEN Partnership

DIC Corporation 35 4 septembre 2025

DIC Philippines (DIC PH) has taken a major stride toward decarbonization by entering a five-year renewable energy agreement with ACEN Corporation, beginning August 2024. ACEN Corporation is the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group and a leading renewable energy company in the Philippines, with a growing presence across Southeast Asia and Australia. This move is part of the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), enabling the company to source electricity entirely from renewable sources.

Through this partnership, DIC Philippines now reduces an estimated 11 tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions per month, contributing significantly to the DIC Group’s global goal of reducing CO₂ emissions by 50% (compared to FY2013 levels) by 2030. With 90% of its current emissions already offset, the company continues to push beyond its original targets toward net zero.

In recognition of this milestone, ACEN Corporation awarded DIC Philippines a silver “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge on July 2, 2025. The badge is given to organizations that demonstrate strong leadership in adopting clean energy in the Philippines.

Mr. Aldo Rei Garcia, Production Manager of DIC PH, Mr. Miggy Sagun, Representative of ACEN, Mr. Naoshige Sakamoto, COO of DIC PH and Mr. John Benedict Raz, Engineering Supervisor during the award ceremony.

“This shift to renewable energy is a meaningful step, but not the final one,” shared Mr. Naoshige Sakamoto, COO of DIC Philippines. “DIC Group’s 2030 vision challenges us to cut emissions in half, and efforts like these help us stay accountable – not just to our targets, but to the communities and industries we serve.”
