Crypto and bitcoin losses need to be reported on your taxes. However, they can also save you money. Founded in 2017, Celsius functioned in a similar way to a regular bank ndash except its assets were based on the promise of lsquohigh-yieldrsquo crypto instead of fiat money. But its CEL token plummeted in value last year and by June 2022, Celsius paused all transactions ndash including withdrawals. Although Celsius is based in New Jersey, the relevant ldquoTerms of Userdquo applicable to the Custody Accounts are governed by the laws of the state of New York. The latest version of those terms became effective on April 14, 2022, just two months prior to Celsiusrsquo halting of withdrawals.
