Antialiasing smoothes the edges of lines, eliminating the 8220;jaggies8221; that come from drawing a diagonal line across a pixilated CRT screen. The GeForce Ti 4600 processes 4.8 billion antialiasing samples per second; the GeForce 4 Ti 4400, 4.4 billion samples/s. 4:1 lossless Z-compression technology helps save the amount of data thatrsquo;s actually pushed. The GeForce4 line also sports a new and improved generation of Z-occlusion culling technology, which saves the GeForce4 from having to render pixels that you canrsquo;t actually see. To demonstrate, Tamasi showed off an animation involving bug-like creatures wandering over a hilly terrain. With technology that doesnrsquo;t support Z-occlusion culling, the ant models not visible from the userrsquo;s perspective would still have to be rendered; with Z-occlusion culling, thatrsquo;s no longer the case.
