Millions of devotees come to Tirupati for taking blessings of Lord Vishnu. Tirupati is one of the most revered pilgrimage centres of India. This town holds great historic significance and also finds mention in the Hindu Puranas. It is located in the foothills of Eastern Ghats at the enchanting state of Andhra Pradesh.
Tirupati is famous for the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is the richest shrines in the entire world. The temple is set on the Venkatadri mountain which is among the seven hills of Tirumala. Another hills are Anjanadri, Garudadri, Vrishabhadri, Neeladri, Seshadri and Narayanadri. Lord Venkateshwara is one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Thousands of devotees visit the temple everyday.
According to the legend throughout the Kali Yuga the temple served as a home to the Lord. The rulers belonging to the different dynasties like Vijayanagara, Chola and Hoysala created their own contributions to the temple. In accordance with the sacred text of Rig Veda one must visit this temple at least once. The ideal time to see Tirupati is from September to February.
