Rincon de la Vieja National Park is about 25 kilometres (15 miles) northeast of Liberia, which is the capital city of Guanacaste. Popular beach towns like Tamarindo and Playa Flamingo are about two hours away, and Playa Hermosa is even closer (1.5 hours). There are two ways to get into the 14,300-hectare (35,336-acre) park. The Santa Maria station is one, and the Las Pailas station is the other.
