The Giants are in dire need of talent at all levels of the defense and Greedy is an extremely talented and productive cornerback who probably should have gone in the top 10. The Giants will need strong coverage play from its secondary this year to mask their lack of pass rushing talent. Greedy is the closest thing to a lockdown corner in this draft and he also gives the Giants the ability to move on from Janoris Jenkins and most of his $14.75 million cap hit the next two seasons. This move would bring the Giants to almost $100 million in cap space for the 2020 season. He was 58.The Lions said Cofer died Thursday. Cofer’s son Phil plays basketball for Florida State. The school said he found out about his father’s death after the Seminoles‘ victory over Vermont in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. He’s the only linebacker in team history to reach eight sacks in a season. He did it four times.“Mike was the definition of the perfect football player,” former Lions quarterback Eric Hipple said in a statement. “His attitude matched his ability and he gave 100 percent in everything he did. The same goes for his care and attention for fellow players, fans and people in general.
