For those six Canadian franchises- or the 43%- this season was marked by disappointment, collapses and rebuilds.
Teppo Numminen Jersey .Here quick season recaps of the teams that are entering golf season early, even if there still is snow on the ground. The Ottawa Senators entered last season with a label of being a rebuilding team that wouldnt reach the playoffs. To the surprise of many, the Senators entered the playoffs as a seventh seed and upset the Canadiens in the first round 4-1.This season, the expectations for the Senators were lofty, they lost captain Daniel Alfredsson but acquired Bobby Ryan and star defenceman Erik Karlsson was given a clean bill of health. Yet, the Senators failed live up the level of performance theyd produced the previous season and were removed from the playoff race shortly after the trade deadline. Some would say the Sens just werent ready to fight for it.GIF credit: TumblrThe Toronto Maple Leafs 2013 playoff run gave hope to fans that the future was bright for the team. Add a new starting goaltender in Jonathan Bernier and two veteran grinders, David Clarkson and Dave Bolland, and it seemed the Leafs were ready to surge beyond the first round of the playoffs. Yet, the Leafs game 7 collapse against the Bruins in 2013 turned out be a microcosm of the 2013-2014 campaign.Sitting a safely in a playoff spot late in the season, the Leafs travelled to California for a road trip; the team defeated the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings to put themselves at a 90% chance of making the playoffs. To the amazement of many, the Leafs then dropped eight straight games –and 12 of their final 14- before falling well out of the playoffs. The Leafs pretty well took themselves out this season.GIF credit: The Leafs NationThe Winnipeg Jets had come close to a playoff spot in each of their first two years in the city. Many fans wondered; could this be the year the team finally entered the post-season? The answer to that question would be no. Early failures led to the team firing head coach Claude Noel in January, and though Paul Maurice put the Jets in the playoff race after he arrived, but once again the team missed their mark.GIF credit: TumblrThe Vancouver Canucks went from having the leagues top goaltending duo last season, to now having Eddie Lack and Jacob Markstrom as options in their crease. After trading Corey Schneider in the offseason, the Canucks traded Roberto Luongo prior to the trade deadline, a move that stunned the hockey world. The team went from a contender to a rebuilding team almost overnight. The disaster of the previous 10 months led to president and general manager Mike Gillis being fired and coach John Tortorella being on the hottest of seats entering the offseason. In the end, this GIF perfectly summed up the Canucks season.GIF credit: Vancouver Sports BlogThe Calgary Flames ended this season with the ability to move forward with a lot of positives. This season was a write-off for team, they traded franchise hero Jarome Iginla and defenceman Jay Bouwmeester on deadline day last season and watched goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff retire. The Flames were simply using this season to allow their young players to gain experience and finish with a high draft pick. Yet, the success of young players such as Sean Monahan and a breakout campaign from Mikael Backlund have given Flames fans hope for the future, something many fans in Canada dont seem to have right now.In the end, the Flames line brawl against the Canucks will likely live as the most memorable moment in a forgettable 2013-2014.GIF credit: TumblrGIF credit: TumblrFinally, we have the Edmonton Oilers, who have once again taken their place in the leagues basement despite being overloaded with young talent. The Oilers seemed to have more promise than ever entering this season after signing the hottest coaching name, Dallas Eakins, and adding Andrew Ference to lead the teams young core from the blue line. Yet, despite a new coach and new captain, the Oilers once again struggled to compete and were forced to make moves for their future rather than moves to help a playoff push. The Oilers additions of goaltenders Ben Scrivens and Viktor Fasth seemed to be a step in the right direction, however another season of "maybe next year" angered even the most patient of Edmonton fans. Multiple jerseys were thrown on the ice this season and despite Scrivens sending one back, the fans may be on the verge of no longer taking them back. GIF credit: Twitter.com/myregularfaceThe failures of the above six franchises have led Canadians to being forced to either cheer for the Canadiens, a polarizing franchise at best, or cheer for a team south of the border.Of course, theres always the option throw in the towel on watching playoff at all, just like Dallas Eakins did. Is this the worst season ever of Canadian NHL teams? The evidence above suggests it might be…
Laurie Boschman Jersey . -- One shot came out of bottom of a cactus, the other from the base of a desert bush with rocks scattered around it.
Connor Hellebuyck Jersey . The 33-year-old Spaniard, who held the lead since the second round, turned in a solid final round that featured six birdies and two bogeys to finish on 22-under 266. The victory is Garcias first this year with his last win coming at the Johor Open, an Asian Tour event in Malaysia last December. MILWAUKEE -- The injury-depleted Milwaukee Bucks have been a doormat for just about everyone in the first month of the season. The Boston Celtics are about the lone exception. O.J. Mayo rebounded from a subpar game with 22 points and the Bucks snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 92-85 victory over Boston on Saturday night. "It feels good to get that monkey off your back," Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said. "It really does. Especially kind of the way we did it, short-handed as we were, playing some guys out of position. Its kind of been our story pretty much all season long." Two of Milwaukees three victories this season have come against Boston. The Bucks beat the Celtics, 105-98, on Nov. 1 in Boston. Jared Sullinger scored 21 points and had 14 rebounds, while Jeff Green and Jordan Crawford added 18 points apiece for the Celtics. The Bucks went to a zone defence, and Boston missed 40 of its final 62 shots. "We just were kind of waiting to see if they made shots, and they didnt fall for them, so we stuck with it," Drew said. Boston coach Brad Stevens said his teams struggles simply were due to missing shots. "We moved the ball against the zone and attacked where we wanted to," he said. "We just didnt make as many as we wanted to." The Celtics missed 15 of 19 3-point attempts. "We definitely had a good amount of looks, but we just werent able to knock them down," Bostons Avery Bradley said. "Probably every 3 we took was wide open. We just werent able to convert." Despite having the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 3-13, Milwaukee is only three games behind Detroit (6-10), which currently is in the eighth spot in the mediocre Eastern Conference. "To get a fire, all it takes is a spark, so nows the time to keep it going," said Ekpe Udoh, who had seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter. Milwaukees Brandon Knight had his second consecutive solid game, scoring 20 points with nine rebounds and eight assistts after scoring 17 points against Charlotte.
Tobias Enstrom Jersey. . "I came close (to a triple-double) but more importantly we got a win to snap our streak," Knight said. Boston missed its first nine shots of the fourth quarter, allowing Milwaukee to go on a 10-0 run and take an 80-63 lead on Gary Neals short jumper with 7:24 to go. The Celtics then went on an 18-5 run, pulling within 88-81 on Greens 3-pointer with 1:20 to go. After each team failed to score on their next possessions, Knight made a layup to make it 90-81 with 55 seconds to go. Mayo scored only five points on 2-of-11 shooting in the Bucks 92-76 loss Friday night at Charlotte, but shot 9 of 14 Saturday to give Milwaukee its first win since beating Cleveland 109-104 on Nov. 6. Knight said he and Mayo would make a good duo as the season progressed. "I was out and he has his little nicks and bruises," Knight said. "As we play more and more, and as I get my feet wet and get more adjusted to playing with him, and him with me, I think were going to be a tough backcourt." John Henson had a season-high 13 points and 13 rebounds for Milwaukee. Mayo had eight points in the third quarter and the Bucks led 70-63 heading to the fourth. Knight made all five of his shots, including two 3-pointers, to score 12 points in the second quarter, helping Milwaukee to a 47-41 halftime lead. The Bucks took the lead for good at 44-41 on Knights 3-pointer with 1:42 left in the half. Notes: Caron Butler (knee) and Ersan Ilysasova (hamstring, thumb) missed the game for Milwaukee. Butler is expected to miss about a week. ... Rajon Rondo (knee rehab), Kelly Olynyk (sprained right ankle) and Courtney Lee (sore knee) didnt make the trip to Milwaukee. . Sullinger was called for a flagrant 1 foul when he fouled a driving Khris Middleton with 6:03 left in the third quarter. . The 11-game losing streak was tied for the second longest in team history. The longest was 15 games in March 1996. . The teams play against Tuesday in Boston.
