She’s Poised to Join the Ranks of New Female Astronauts

    A fascinating statistic that never ceases to amaze space enthusiasts, including myself, is that NASA has had approximately 360 astronaut candidates throughout its history, yet fewer than 100 of them have been women.

    Thankfully, there’s exciting news in the space community: another accomplish woman has join the ranks of American astronauts. She stands out as more than just an average space enthusiast.

    Meet Emily Calandrelli, also known as ‘The Space Gal.’ Emily is an engineer with an MIT background, an Emmy-nominate science TV host, an author, and the executive producer and star of the children’s educational show, “Emily’s Wonder Lab.” You may remember her from our feature last year!

    For years, Emily has diligently work as an educator, inspiring young children, especially young girls, to pursue careers in STEM. Alongside her teaching, she is also an active engineer and an aspiring astronaut.

    “Emily’s devote followers on social media platforms such as TikTok have long been aware of her childhood aspiration to travel to space. Finally, after years of anticipation, her dream is becoming a reality.”

    In a thrilling and much-await announcement, Emily disclose that she is officially joining Blue Origin, the American aerospace company establish by Jeff Bezos, as an astronaut and will soon be embarking on a journey to space.

    In a heartfelt TikTok announcement, Emily share, “I’m swapping my ‘Emily’s Wonder Lab’ overalls for a flight suit.”

    “Achieving this dream is my ultimate goal.”

    In her popular announcement video, Emily reveals that her dedication to studying aerospace engineering, thriving as a science TV host, educating children nationwide, and authoring nine educational books has finally borne fruit. She’s excite to share that she will soon be living her dream.

    Emily said, “By becoming one of the first fewer than 100 women in space, I aim to inspire girls everywhere to reach for the stars and achieve their dreams.”

    Emily, a native of West Virginia, will be embarking on a space journey with a group of fellow West Virginians, showcasing her home state with pride. Although the exact launch date for Emily’s thrilling space adventure has not been reveal, the mission is schedule to depart from West Texas.

    Emily’s spaceship, the New Shepherd, accommodates six passengers per flight. This mission is a collaborative effort with Alys and Brad D. Smith’s Wing 2 Wing Foundation, dedicate to advancing accessible education.
