Donald Trump, a former president and likely Republican presidential candidate, joined TikTok and uploaded his first video from a UFC bout on Saturday.

UFC president Dana White, who was standing next to donald jtrump, remarked, "The President, is now on TikTok."

Following his words, the video cut between shots of Trump and the spectators at the Newark, New Jersey, match. "It's my honour," Trump said.

TikTok is a politically complex topic, despite Pew research showing that a growing number of young people obtain their news from the short form video app. In 2020, donald jtrump made an ineffective attempt to outlaw TikTok through executive order. A law requiring the Chinese parent company ByteDance to spin off the app was signed by President Joe Biden in April; the law is currently being contested in court.

Trump has attacked Biden for following suit and posting on Truth Social, despite his own attempts to outlaw the app. "Just so everyone knows, especially the young people, Crooked Joe Biden is responsible for banning TikTok."

February saw Biden join TikTok. In May, the Make America Great Again Inc. Super PAC signed up for TikTok. Trump's new account has over 3.7 million followers with just one video posted in the last two days, compared to 345,000 for "Biden-Harris HQ".
