如果您腸胃不好,有胃酸逆流症狀或嗜吃酸性食物,特別是牙齒已經出現酸蝕現象或琺瑯質(牙釉質)厚度已經變薄,那麼建議您餐後儘量不要急著刷牙,因為這時候口內pH往往在4以下,牙齒處於這樣高酸性的環境中會軟化,所以一些醫學學者反對餐後立即刷牙,以避免牙齒表面受到磨損。
其實,一般健康的牙齒是不用擔心的,若是牙齒沒有被酸腐蝕且結構完好,頂多注意使用軟毛牙刷取代硬毛牙刷刷牙,且降低牙膏使用量即可(因為牙膏含的研磨劑成分占了70%左右,研磨劑會加速牙齒磨耗。

另外,牙膏往往有過多像發泡劑之類能經過皮膚和黏膜進入人體的毒素)。
但對於已經有蛀牙或酸蝕現象的人,就建議餐後先用清水漱口,3~5分鐘後,口內pH回到接近中性的程度,唾液會自然去修補牙齒表層讓它再堅固回來,這時候再刷牙才是正確的做法。
