These units are subject to a lot of stress as they are the only ones that connect the vehicle with the road surface. Replace the tyres from time to time to ensure they always spin optimally.
It means removing the rubber (tyre) from the wheel rim and changing it. You can also call a Mobile Tyre Fitting Shifnal.

However, trained technicians must carry out this task. But, if you have the basic knowledge and incorporate the essential tool required for replacing a tyre in your vehicle - you can confidently do it.
So, before attempting to replace a tyre, carefully assess your current situation. Ask yourself the below-mentioned questions:
  • Have I stopped the vehicle in the safest location?
  • Am I visible to other road users?
  • Is my car out of the way of other automobiles?
  • Is it safe to change the tyre here?
If your answer to all the above questions is "yes", then apply the handbrake, turn on the hazard warning light of the car, and keep your warning triangle on the road behind your vehicle. If there are any passengers in your four-wheeler, they must move out. These steps are crucial for everybody’s safety. If your answer to any question is "no", kindly move your car to a safer spot or arrange for a mobile tyre fitting service.

Tools Required to Change a Tyre
Before removing the existing tyre, ensure that you have the essential tools to carry out the work. You don't want to demount the tyre only to know that you can't replace the spare tyre. You will require the following tools:-
  • A car jack
  • Wheel chocks
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Wheel nut key
  • Owner' manual
  • Torch (if you have to change the tyre at night)
Also, check if the spare tyre is in good working condition. You don't want to fit a tyre that won't perform optimally.

Steps to Change A Tyre

Step 1:- With the help of the wheel chocks, stabilise the vehicle. Put the wheel chocks in place to prevent the four-wheeler from rolling when jacked up. They should be kept diagonally opposite the flat-tyre. If you don't have a wheel chock, you can even use bricks or a large wooden plank.

Step 2:- Position the car jack as per the recommendations in your handbook or keep it in the closest lifting point of the wheel you need to change. Ensure the head of the car jack engages and raise the jack slowly until the vehicle has slightly risen and the tyres are still on the ground.

Step 3:- Loosen the wheel nuts halfway when the wheel is still on the floor.

Step 4:- Now that wheel nuts are a bit loose, jack up the vehicle completely. Keep on doing this gradually until the car is 10cm above the road surface.

Step 5:- Now, you remove the wheel nuts by hand. While doing this, hold the tyre's weight with your knee. So, it remains secure and doesn't come off. It's wise to remove the top-most wheel nut at the end. Once you remove this last nut, the tyre should come off the position.

Step 6:- Hold the spare tyre in place and reattach the wheel nuts. Only secure the nuts by hand for the time being. Hence, tighten them to a limit till they can easily carry the spare tyre. Once tighten the nuts, jack down the car until the tyres touch the road surface.

Step 7:- Next, tighten the wheel nuts again with the help of a wrench. Ensure the wheel nuts are fully secured.

Step 8:- Now, you can lower the vehicle and remove the jack. Recheck the wheel nuts to make sure they are secure. Now, check the pressure of the spare tyre using a pressure gauge.
