While it's definitely getting better for LGBTQIA people to travel throughout the United States, it's still better in some places than others. Listed are some historic queer landmarks worth visiting:

Denver, Colorado

If you're looking for an LGBTQ-friendly place to enjoy the great outdoors, look no further. Denver offers 85 miles of bike trails, man-made whitewater kayaking chutes and loads of camping and hiking. If you time your trip right, you can also enjoy an open-air amphitheater concert in Red Rocks Park, or go any time of year and explore nearby Rocky Mountain National Park while you're there.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

As reputed for being LGBTQ-friendly as it is for being a party town, Fort Lauderdale also offers fun and engaging sights and activities like the Discovery and Science museum and Butterfly World. Then there's the Stonewall National Museum and Archives, one of the biggest LGBTQ historic libraries in the country.

Long Beach, California

Close to Los Angeles, Long Beach is a cute, small, beachside town with a great aquarium, refreshing ice cream joints and water attractions like Duffy boat canal cruises and historic Queen Mary tours.

New York, New York

New York City is one of the hottest centers of LGBTQIA history and culture in the nation. There, you can visit the Stonewall National Monument, one of the most important historic queer landmarks, as well as the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, representing exclusively LGBTQ artists.

Oahu, Hawaii

All the Hawaiian islands in general are pretty LGBTQ friendly, but Oahu in particular hosts multiple Pride events throughout the year. It's also where Disney's Aulani Resort and Spa is located, one of the most all-inclusive family resorts in the state, with all workers undergoing sensitivity and inclusion training.

Seattle, Washington

In the Capitol Hill neighborhood of this, one of the country's most inclusive cities, you'll find rainbow flags and trans flags adorning businesses and crosswalks year-round. If you're looking for a place to celebrate pride, Seattle's is one of the finest, and includes a big block party and family picnic. There's also the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, Pike Place Market and Molly Moon's ice cream to enjoy.
