The Louvre is arguably one of the most famous art museums in the world, and it’s not difficult to see why. With over 5,000 paintings on display and more than 6,000 other pieces in storage, there’s a small activity for everyone. In addition to basking in its halls of art from all eras of history, you can also challenge yourself by trying your hand at masterpieces from European masters such as Titian or Botticelli from across the ages.

The problem with being one of the most famous museums in the world is that it’s also one of the most visited. With over 9 million visitors per year, you can bet that you’ll have some company if you choose to visit. While this adds to its significance (in a way), it’s not exactly the best experience if you want to try and take a peaceful stroll through its galleries.

Luckily there is something you can do in advance to avoid the worst of the crowds. So whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or want to avoid the hassle of finding parking and dealing with traffic, advance ticketing can work out well for most people.

The problem with getting advance tickets is that they’re not exactly cheap. For example, the lowest price ($10) for a single ticket is still over $14 (with fees included) if you go right now. This is more than most people would be willing to spend to avoid crowds.

One way around this is by getting a package deal. If you purchase your ticket online (you can do this as early as 180 days before your visit), you’ll get free entrance to other sites within Paris that day. The added value of the different places will allow you to save money on your trip and still see what you want.

If all of this sounds too good to be true, it’s not. This is how I purchased my tickets, and I would recommend it to anyone. I got a Louvre Museum Tour for myself and my wife for under $30 (and fees were included). While we didn’t get the accessible entrance to the other sites, we still saved more than 50% on admission.

The way to do this is to book your ticket online. Once you’ve selected your ticket, you’ll be able to enter the service centre website. If you’re planning on going with a group of less than 10, this is how you’ll save the most money. You don’t have to worry about anyone collecting multiple tickets or having individual people lose out on discounts.
