It's important to note that the time-skip isn't "official" at this point. While the NPC characters of those of the Horde as well as the Alliance on the Dragonflight Alpha do refer to it's been "several decades" have gone by since the heroes from Azeroth came back from Shadowlands The dialogue in the alpha game is likely to WOTLK Classic Gold change and could not be included in the final version of the game.

In any case, having a longer than normal time lag in the timeline of the game would be an interesting change in the pace.
