The best Apple ecosystem features

Keychain Protects Your Account

Keychain is one of my favorite features of the Apple ecosystem. Popular as cleanup app. Keychain is available on most (but not all) Apple devices. Used to create and manage passwords.

If you've ever tried to create a new account on a website in Safari, Keychain probably recommends a long random password. Of course, you may have thrown it away because you thought you couldn't remember your password.

You may not be aware that Keychain remembers it for you! This feature saves all your password and email combinations. So you don't have to memorize any of them. This makes it easy to use random passwords for all your accounts. This is much more secure than using the same password for all accounts.

This is because someone who finds your password on one site will know the passwords for all of your accounts. And if you think this doesn't happen to you, you are wrong.

Most of you reading this will realize that your email address and password have already been leaked. You can verify this by pasting your email address on this website. So don't wait for something bad to happen before you start using strong passwords. Keychain makes it easy. It's free and available on most  Apple devices.

The Universal Control connects your Mac to one of Apple's latest feature ecosystems.

Next on Apple's list of best ecosystem features is also the newest. This feature is a universal control. You can read about universal controls here, but for those who haven't heard of this feature, here's a quick overview. The

Universal Controller allows a Mac user to "connect" by simply placing her other Mac or iPad side by side. Seriously, you can put two of his MacBooks side by side. Then drag the mouse from one MacBook to another. It will switch to the next screen and you will be able to use one mouse and keyboard between the two devices.

Not only is this feature really cool, but you can also easily drag and drop files between the two devices. However, I cannot drag the window back and forth. This is one of my main complaints about this feature. Also, both devices must have this feature enabled for them to work. To do this, click System Preferences > Displays > General Controls. Check all boxes.

This feature also works on an iPad, but it must be an iPad connected to a Mac. For some reason, this is not possible when two iPads are sitting next to each other.

This feature has some issues, but it's still very good and  I'm sure many Mac users will love it. Result!
