How to allocate the right roles, positions and responsibilities in the company.

To become successful, the company must work as one single mechanism. But this is only possible with a properly organized structure because it is essentially the basis of the enterprise's conceptual scheme.

In a nutshell, it is a user manual that clarifies how the company works, who reports to whom in it, who leads everyone, and on what principle decisions are made.

If you suddenly have a question about the need to think over the structure of the enterprise, then we have three arguments in this regard:

1. The organizational mechanism is needed so that people understand in which direction the company is moving. In this case, it will be much easier to establish order in the team, to solve problems.

2. A established structure can unite employees. Of course, everyone will have their distinctive features, but the common goal creates a team spirit. You can find more detailed information about establishing team relationships in our article "What is teamwork, why is it so important, and how does it affect success?"

3. Establishing organizational moments is an inevitable process. In any case, a certain structure will be formed immediately or over time. Another thing is whether it will be productive or not. A well-thought-out mechanism can bring considerable benefits to the company.

Three cornerstones of the organizational structure.

Regardless of what type of structure was chosen, it will have three main components:

Management. It can be either one person or a group of people. They are responsible for making important decisions for the company. Someone, for example, uses an ob level matrix in their system, and someone still ignores this method. To find out what you can learn from us, you can read the curriculum;

Collection of rules. And it is not only about the stated, formal rules. Informal regulation also plays a significant role;

Division of labor. This is a prerequisite, but the principle of its organization may be different, depending on the type of structure.

Below we will consider the main organizational mechanisms recognized as effective and used in most companies.

Stages of building an organizational structure.

Good planning of the organizational structure is a must. This should be done based on the goals of the company and its specialization. The process of structuring management can be divided into three stages:

1. Horizontal division. This includes training lines and headquarters units, establishing their specialization.

2. Organization of the system of correlation of powers between different positions. First, you need to think about the main chain of command, then break them into smaller links.

3. Distribution of areas of responsibility and duties.

Whatever type of structure you choose, it is important to remember that you should not focus on only one approach. Some mechanisms are better suited for the beginning when the company is just starting its development. And as you grow, you need to assess the effectiveness of management objectively and, if necessary, change the structure
