Sony has ambitious plans for the next generation of virtual reality hardware with plans two million of the PSVR 2 headset ready by March next year.

Mass production of the virtual reality headset was reported to have begun from September (via Bloomberg) and has not yet encountered supply chain constraints. With the PS5 still very popular due to its low availability since it launched in November 2020, Sony is also planning to put more stock of the console on its shelves in early 2023 according to Bloomberg's sources.

PSVR 2 has yet to receive a release date that extends beyond 2023, but Sony is working to ensure that there's enough PS5 consoles available to play games on the new headset. It's only compatible on PS5 and won't be backwards compatible with PSVR games.

The only thing we know about the hardware is that they have several impressive specs. Similar to similar to PS5 as well as its DualSense controller Sony have incorporated haptic feedback inside-out tracking, eye tracking, along with 3D-sound into this kit, which hasn't yet received an exact retail price.

"PSVR 2 feels poised to be an opportunity for the gaming space," Tamoor Hussain wrote in GameSpot's PSVR 2 preview. "It still remains to be determined whether PSVR 2 will garner widespread excitement, but buying FUT 23 Coins at minimum, I'm confident that it'll bring us one step closer to realizing its full potential."
