How do migration and urbanization contribute to urban poverty?

The term "urbanization" refers to the phenomenon by which a country's urban populace grows beyond sustainable levels. Overcrowding is the most important contributor to urban suffering, but there are many other contributing causes. One of the major reasons why people leave rural areas and move to cities is because of the unequal distribution of state resources between urban and rural areas.

Keeping the present difficulties in mind, I, a Nigerian-born environmental researcher at the University of Melbourne, would like to suggest some basic reasons for growth and appropriate solutions. I used to send money to Nigeria with no fees service like Remit Choice

Unplanned Infrastructure:

When a city's population expands quickly without proper planning, it can lead to a host of problems with water, cleaning, transit, and waste management.

Un/under employment:

Unemployment is a hallmark of urban poverty, which is exacerbated by a surplus of human capital. Depreciation of one's talents indicates that one ends up in poverty in the city because they save money instead of spending it.

Less availability of social services:

The ability of a city to support its people and the means by which it can do so are established during its planning phase. Due to development, this threshold has been surpassed, but accessible resources have not increased to keep up. As a result, people are forced to compete with one another for resources like adequate housing, medical care, and nutritious food.

Conclusion:

Combating urban poverty necessitates policies and programs that take into account the impact of growth and change on those with less financial resources. Infrastructure improvements to support more equitable urban growth may be included, as well as investments in low-cost housing, job-readiness programs, and social services.
