Today, I will show you how chitin promotes intestinal health, reduces inflammation, and enhances the immune system.

Chitin. A wonderful addition or a scam?

On the internet, you can find many articles that exaggerate the benefits of chitin.

Most of these claims and benefits are based on chitosan (unlike chitin), as well as outdated and poorly designed research.

So, I decided to delve deeper into this question and find out what exactly is going on with chitin?

In this article, we will introduce our current understanding of it based on research:

1. It can improve your immune system
2. Can reduce inflammation
3. May help lose weight and prevent constipation
4. Can it protect and moisturize your skin
5. Potential side effects and allergies
6. Who can benefit from eating more chitin?
7. Which foods are rich in chitin?

Before we start, no, chitin is not related to cheating.
Its pronunciation is also very different.

So, what is chitin?

Chitin, pronounced "key - tin" (k/t/n), is a natural fiber similar to cellulose.

It naturally exists in the exoskeletons of crabs, shrimp, insects, snails, as well as in the cell walls of mushrooms and other fungi.

It has many uses in many different industries and may have some very promising health benefits.

The function of chitin in the human body is similar to cellulose, and due to this effect, it is often referred to as "animal fiber".

Like other fibers, chitin is very useful in our diet.

According to science, there are four main reasons to increase your intake of chitin.

Intestinal bacteria that may promote health

In short, our bodies cannot digest chitin.

Chitin is an insoluble fiber, which means it is insoluble in water.

That's why it's not easy to decompose in our digestive tract.

For our microbial community, chitin is a true enjoyment.

In fact, it can serve as a food (prebiotic) for healthy bacteria in our intestines.

Prebiotics are compounds in food that can induce the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi.

Prebiotics can promote our immune system, intestinal health, and reduce inflammation.
