Why Isn’t My Central Air Conditioner Working?

A central air conditioner is a great addition to have in your home. It will keep all of the rooms in your home cool and comfortable all summer long and you won’t have to worry about how efficient it is at the time. But it is possible that your unit will stop working and you may not notice the cool air coming through as much as it should. There are a few questions you should ask yourself to ensure that your central air conditioner is working well and to make it last a long time. Some of these include:

# Is the thermostat at the right setting? When you have a smart thermostat, you will be able to control the temperature in the home so that it is going to be comfortable when you are home, but it can be warmer when you are not. If you feel like the temperature is off a bit, then check whether the thermostat is exposed to direct sunlight and see if you can fix that.
# Are the registers blocked or dirty: If your cooling system is a forced-air one, then you need to vacuum out the registers to make sure the dust is removed. This will ensure that the air is able to get through the home more efficiently than before.

# Are plants crowing out your compressor: The outdoor compressor or your central air conditioner needs to be free of any blockage so that the air can flow through it. Always check that you have a minimum of two to three feet of space between any structures and plants and the compressor. You should also leave at least 5 feet between the top of it and any trees.

# Getting the annual checkup done: You will need to have a technician present to help you catch any of the big problems that are happening with the air conditioner to ensure that it does not get worse. The technician is going to check all of the parts that come with it, like the refrigerant, and make sure that all parts are fixed and repaired before they go bad.
