Ten Golden Rules for Gardening and Watering

Body

To prevent plants from wilting in hot summer, they need to be watered. But how much water, how often, from above or below? Here are some clever and practical methods for watering plants and the recommendation of garden spray gun.

Rule 1: Keep Uniform Humidity

Most plants should be kept even and moist. However, a little drying before watering can promote the growth of plant roots.

Rule 2: water less but thoroughly.

In flower beds, it is usually enough to water once or twice a week: it is best to water it less often but thoroughly rather than often.

Rule 3: water in the evening or early morning.

When watering the cooled soil in the evening or at night, the evaporated water is less than that of the soil with higher daytime temperature. And plants can absorb enough water to cope with the hot weather of the next day.

Rule 4: Keep Leaves Dry

Wet leaves can lead to leaf diseases. Leaves wet all night may cause leaf mold. Wet leaves will form slight burn marks in the sun (due to the magnifying glass effect of water droplets).

Rule 5: Watering Moderately

Moderate watering means that water must reach the root fully. Too low a quantity of water usually covers only the upper layer of soil. Adequate watering also means that the plant must keep the soil even and moist during the growing period until the crop is ripe for harvest.

Rule 6: Pour lots of water in batches.

Water takes time to penetrate into the soil. In order to avoid the overflow of water on the flower beds, it is best to irrigate them repeatedly in batches.

Rule 7: Water in a targeted way and distribute it evenly.

Watering at only one root position will lead to root growth on one side, resulting in poor absorption of soil nutrients. Therefore, water must be poured around the plant and spread throughout the irrigation area.

Rule 8: Irrigation in a Water-Saving Way

When watering, try to water it thoroughly and less often. Humidity sensors are installed in flower beds, balconies and lawns, which can be easily realized through an automatic irrigation system.

Rule 9: Avoid Waterlogging

Waterlogging will inhibit root respiratory gases from escaping from the soil-root cells will be starved of oxygen and drown.

Rule 10: Use good, clay-rich soil

Plant soil rich in clay minerals has better swelling characteristics, so it can maintain soil moisture more effectively and uniformly. In humid summer and winter, ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging.
