Golf in South Africa grows over the flawless greens of some of the popular cities. The country boasts of over 1000 golf courses, enabling golfers across the world to plan a holiday with a golfing vacation. South Africa is a golfer’s paradise and houses some of the world’s finest golf courses.
Of course, not every golfer is a born champion; you can improve your game as you play. The breathtaking trails, excellent views and inducements and palm-lined beaches with exotic bird vocals make it impossible not to tee off on the unique continent.
Consider taking a membership with a country club or golf club. There are a few factors you must decide upon to find the most suitable one.
1] Location: You will save plenty of time and can go more frequently if you choose a club closer to your house. if you live somewhere closer to Pretoria, there are numerous golf courses all around. One such course is the Akasia Golf Club. The 18-hole course was designed and developed by Dr. Piet Groenewald, a landscape designer, in 1994 and is about 14km north of Pretoria’s city centre and at the foot of Magaliesberg mountains. Professionals love playing a game here because of its layout between several thorny acacia trees and numerous water hazards.
The golf course offers perfect greens and year-round Kikuyu fairways. Featuring vast expanses of water, abundant birdlife and a few antelope species, it keeps the excitement on. Akasia Golf Club offers all the services of a modern golf club, i.e., golf carts with GPS for hire, caddies, a golf shop for all your equipment and a driving range. The club also offers a putt green for practice with experienced coaches to provide training for the amateurs.
2] Amenities:
If you are with your family or friends who are not keen on golf, the country clubs offer several other recreational activities. As mentioned above, the clubs provide facilities like tennis courts, a clubhouse, golf tuition, a pro shop, a bar, restaurants and outdoor pools. While you are playing your game, they can indulge in whatever interests them. You can have private parties, dinners, dance and themed evenings.
3] Cost of membership: The membership costs vary from one club to another. If the pricing is too high, it may create a problem for you to become a member. You must consider all the prices, such as guest charges, cancellation fees, add-ons, annual fees, storage fees, rentals, food/drinks, etc.
For example, the Pecanwood Golf & Country Club, on the banks of Hartbeespoort Dam and one of five Jack Nicklaus-designed signature courses in the country, offers two basic types of membership: Golf Club Membership and Social Club Membership.
Membership is voluntary. Regardless of whether members of the HOA (homeowners association) have submitted their application for membership in the golf or social club, all Pecanwood HOA members are eligible to use whatever facilities are available. They can use the gym, pool, village green, tennis courts, main clubhouse and restaurant on such terms as contained herein or any other terms laid down by the HOA.
