When it comes to celebrating a grand arts occasion in South Asia, Serendipity Arts Festival is the festival that appears first in mind. SAF is a grand arts festival that has been celebrating for the last 5 years consecutively. The event is organized by Serendipity Arts Organization, a non-profit organization helping struggling artists through grants and events. Hero Enterprises’ chairman Sunil Kant Munjal is the man behind the initiative. SAF is a grand occasion of Serendipity Arts Organization. It aims at providing one platform to artists of a range of fields including music, theatre, literature, dance, food, and crafts.

SAF is celebrated every year on 14th December in Goa. The multi-disciplinary event lasts more than a week. The SAF 2020 was conducted virtually because of the pandemic COVID. Taking the program from physical to virtual was a tough decision. It was all about preparation in a new way and with new challenges. However, the team of SAF cheerfully faced these challenges. A new website serendipityartsvirtual.com was launched for registration and live workshops. The team took the help of Zoom, a video conference app, for conducting workshops and live events. Organizing the event virtually was an exceptional experience. It has made the event global.

Audiences from all corners of the world became a witness of the grand arts festival virtually. Let’s pee into some of the most successful projects of SAF 2020.

Indian Folk Art and Craft

Over the years, Serendipity has shown honour to artists and their artwork. The festival has featured some of the finest craft forms of all parts of India. At SAF 2020 event, several age-old art forms got space to remind people about the rich artwork of India. Artists and artisans were invited to conduct virtual workshops to share their knowledge and experience. These art workshops introduced participants to the basics of arts and their significance. Gond, Madhubani, and Scroll painting workshops were the center of attraction. Kite making and paper cutting workshops lured people of all age groups.

Accessibility Workshops

Since its inception, Serendipity Arts Festival has put conscious efforts to make the festival accessible to a diverse community of art lovers. It is not all about dance, painting, and music. It is also about creativity. Applying new techniques to engage your mind and focus attention on something soothing was the aim of accessibility workshops. The 2020 SAF event took the accessibility workshop theme to the next level. The event conducted some brainstorming workshops like building portraits using objects of your home, Zentangle pattern designs to avoid random thoughts, a new style of rendering inspired by Gond Art, and home care management.

Culinary Workshops

Like every year SAF festivals, 2020 SAF gave special attention to culinary skills. Leading chefs were invited to conduct virtual workshops of flavours. It was a week-long event and almost every day, a virtual culinary workshop was conducted teaching the art of cooking to upscale your cooking skills. From bakery to mocktail and famous mouth-watering dishes were taught practically. It was an engaging event.

Theatre Performance- Pyaare 2020-Ji

Enjoying live performances has its charm. The experience is definitely different than reel performances. Here artists have just only one-take to show their acting talent. Pyaare 2020-Ji was an engaging virtual drama. The curator of the story is Anmol Vellani, the founder of the India Foundation for the Arts. Deepika Arwind is a playwright, performer, and director of the show who has been working in the theatre for more than a decade. From the arrangement of the theatre to the performance of the artists, all went well. It was an exceptional experience.

These are some top highlights of the 2020 SAF event. We are now excited about the 2021 SAF festival in Goa.
