Behavior Analysis and Ethics

As a future ABA professional and special educator, I must promote fairness and justice when dealing with ethical considerations. The justice approach allows me to focus on the equitable distribution of my services and benefits to those who need and deserve them. Based on the situation, I consider whether to provide or withhold benefits, thereby manifesting a fair attitude towards my clients, co-workers, and the society as a whole. Such daily judgements epitomize my ethical behavior in ambiguous events as done with methodology https://top-dissertations.com/methodology/

It is important to make an assessment of my own actions in order to determine whether I treat people justly. My fundamental philosophical approach is to continually ask myself the following questions: ‘How fair is my behavior towards others?’ and ‘Do I treat all clients equally, or do my actions demonstrate discrimination and favoritism?’ Furthermore, it is essential to determine whether I treat people who differ from others in some respects, including people with special needs, differently. Further, I need to identify the relevant factors that assist me to detect differences and similarities between people. In order to help others to determine their own ethical statements of values, I can ask them to define the beliefs and attitudes that they developed in childhood. Even though those beliefs may appear unusual to them, it is essential to request people to give a brief justification for adopting each of the values they possess.

While conducting a research, I highly value integrity, and I prioritize the welfare of a patient. Therefore, I always opt for reliable and honest methods of conducting, implementing, or appraising my research. Therefore, I report my findings with the careful consideration of the rules and guidelines. I believe that the manipulation of the research findings in an attempt to achieve the desired results is a serious misconduct that deserves a severe penalty. If healthcare providers undertake the aforementioned approach, they may unintentionally do harm to a patient once fake research evidence is applied in clinical practice.

As a behavior analyst, I will strive to demonstrate performance excellence when interacting with stakeholders. More specifically, I will attempt to provide the best possible results when diagnosing and treating patients with disabilities, hence making a difference in their quality of life. Moreover, I will pay particular attention to the provision of the most accurate information to my clients. Besides, I will try to establish strong relationships with my colleagues in order to effectively share clinical skills, abilities, and knowledge.

As a member of an organization, I feel accountable for encouraging and fostering teamwork at the workplace. The main ethical requirement is to maintain the lines of communication open, which helps to eliminate errors and biases. In addition, my ethical responsibilities to myself in terms of professional development are to display perseverance in my efforts in relation to research and practice, as well as to continuously demonstrate exceptional professionalism. Since the behavioral analysis is a fast-growing field, it is important to always search for the best treatment options, thereby delivering up-to-date and optimal care.

Ethics is important when working as a behavior analyst and special educator because such an employee possesses the power to directly affect human health and well-being. Since I will have such a degree of responsibility, it is natural that there should be specific ethical guidelines that would determine my professional conduct. Therefore, ethics should be an indispensable part of my professional life, as long as it acts as a reminder when complicated ethical situations arise. If I become tempted to act in a morally wrong way, the ethical guidelines will help me to solve ethical dilemmas, hence ensuring that the best possible solution is enacted.
