Introduction

In this digital era, everyone is around different types of mobile applications, and we love it. There is hardly any person who doesn't love a good application on their phone. Mobile applications have a high utility rate, and everyone uses them, be it an individual or a company. On average, every one of us uses 20-30 applications daily. We have come a long way from where we began in the development of a mobile application. Mobile application development companies have a significant role to play in this field. Because of these companies, we can have a large variety of applications on our phones for different purposes.

Source of Mobile Application

As you may say, the source of history of smartphone applications and
mobile application development companies has been a thing to discuss. IBM developed the first smartphone in 1994. It was officially known as Simon and had more than ten inbuilt apps. Some of the applications in the phone were calculator, address, and calendar.

At the beginning of the smartphone age, applications were to make the essential functions of our day-to-day life accessible by mobile application development companies. Such as entertainment and games. A classic example for games is Nokia’s snake game app. Such applications were quite popular because they were something new and made the life of each of us simpler and full of entertainment. However, it was not for long as technology has a knack for change. Gradually the engagement pattern of the audience started to change, and people started to expect more from the mobile application development companies. This is how the change takes place, and over time, technology keeps on evolving to become what we see today. As a result, our phones are swarming with different kinds of applications.

The first public cellular phone, made by mobile application development companies like Motorola by Martin Cooper on 3rd April 1973. After ten years, the first cell phone hit the market. The first known application was in the Psion’s range of handheld computers. They use the EPOC operating system. This operating system allows the users to use a word processor, database, and spreadsheet. This operating system was built on Open Programming Language. This allows users to make their applications, which later became the backbone or base for the Symbian Operating system.

Different Platforms and Systems for Mobile Applications

Operating systems and platforms are the base on which the mobile applications are run. The application is created specifically for the operating system. Without it, the application cannot run. The classic examples of operating systems are Ios and Android. Ios is for Apple and Android for companies like Samsung, one plus, Google, etc. The applications cannot run on Android and Vice versa. To run, they have to make one for Android.

IOS operating systems from mobile application development companies like Apple Inc. and Android from Google are the most popular among users in the current smartphone market. Previously other operating systems dominated the market, such as Symbian and Blackberry.

Native Mobile Applications, Hybrid Applications, and Web Applications: Difference

Native Mobile Applications are apps that have full support from the application stores such as the play store and the marketplaces. They are easier to locate on the play store and have a user-friendly interface. They also have built-in features like security, support, efficiency, etc. They provide people with a rich user experience as Native applications fully utilize the system’s hardware.

Hybrid Applications allow the development of only one codebase for the operating systems. There are certain features as well that do not support both systems. This ultimately leads to current modifications in the applications. If you want fast-performing mobile application development companies and are efficient, then a hybrid application is not the right fit for you. This is one of the biggest drawbacks of hybrid applications. They are not fast performing along with fixing. On top of this, if a developer has less expertise on the subject matter, then the situation may get worse as figuring out the exact cause might become a problem. Hybrid Applications are made using programming languages such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5.

Web Applications only have limited access to the features of a device. The web applications that support different mobile browsers enhance the cost of maintenance and development of the applications. It is useful to people who are owners of small enterprises. To run a web application, it is mandatory to have an internet connection. Without internet connections, you cannot use web applications.

Current Applications

At present, there are hundreds of categories of applications in the market available for the public to use. Some of the categories are Social Networking, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Linked In, etc. The market has applications under productivity, utility, News, Lifestyle, entertainment, Personalized Business Applications, etc.

At present, the best way to promote your business is through different applications on the market. There is an application that helps start-ups and other businesses to flourish at less cost and in so many different ways. People use applications because they have better reach, and one can post on them to reach customers and clients 24/7. It is feasible for people because it is a one-time expense. Maintenance cost is also there, but it is quite nominal. The price for application development is also nominal.

Conclusion

We can conclude by saying that technology has evolved a lot from when it began and has transformed the world we live in a much better way. Mobile application development companies are now an important part of the world, and we cannot imagine our lives without our smartphones. We can see the distinction between the applications from the past decade to what we have now.  With the pace technology is developing as every fortnight we have an update in the next decade we will be having applications for everything.
