Blizzard has responded to the server issues that have plagued Diablo 2 Resurrected

Body

We wanted to be as transparent as possible about the issues that are causing these problems. In addition to the issues previously reported, Diablo 2 Resurrected has been plagued by server issues since its launch.

As a result, Blizzard has published a lengthy blog post in which they explain why and how they intend to proceed. Our server outages have not been caused by a single problem; instead, we are addressing each issue as it arises, using both mitigating measures and longer-term architectural changes, according to the statement.

It has been reported that a small number of players have lost their character progression; however, any loss caused by a server crash should be limited to a few minutes in the future. We do not consider this to be a complete solution, Buy Diablo 2 Resurrected Items PS5 and we will continue to investigate this matter. Our team, with the assistance of others at Blizzard, is working to improve the overall game experience so that it is enjoyable for everyone.

The rest of the post goes into detail about how the game servers function, including how connections are made between regional servers and a larger global server. When combined with an increasing number of concurrent players and saving too frequently to global servers, the servers have been unable to keep up with demand.

It's worth noting that the remaster makes extensive use of legacy code from the original game.Following some enhancements over the previous version, this service handles critical game functionality, such as game creation/joining and updating/reading/filtering game lists. It also checks the health of gaming servers as well as reading characters from the database to ensure your character can participate in whatever it is you're filtering for, according to the blog post.

Because player behavior has changed significantly since the early 2000s, it appears that this legacy code is unable to keep up with modern sensibilities. This includes repeatedly creating new games in order to farm items, which can cause the servers to become overloaded.

Blizzard is currently working on three major fixes as a result.

First and foremost, the team is limiting the number of operations performed on the database in the context of creating and joining games, though this is only a temporary mitigation measure.

Second, a login queue has been established in order to keep the number of players at a safe level across all servers. The population cap will rise in tandem with the completion of fixes.

In addition, critical pieces of functionality are being broken down and reorganized into smaller, more manageable chunks of work.

This game means a great deal to all of us, according to the post.A large number of us on the team have been D2 players for a long time--we played when it first launched in 2000, some of us are active in the modding community, and so on.In terms of game experience, we can assure you that we will keep working until we are satisfied, not only as developers, Diablo 2 Resurrected Items PS4 but also as players and members of the community ourselves.
