The All-on-4® Patient Journey

Posted By nextsmiles nextsmiles     October 26, 2021

Body

An All-on-4® patient journey consists of a few steps. These steps are crucial as they will bring back the smile that you love.

Step 1: Consultation

To start your All-on-4® journey, you’ll first book an appointment with your dentist. Here, you will get to discuss the issue at hand and your specific requirements with the dentist. You get to ask all the questions about the procedure, the recovery process, cost and any other set of questions about All-on-4® that you may have. Your paperwork is done at this point.

Step 2: Assessment

During this stage, there is oral imaging to determine your situation and evaluate your suitability for All-on-4®. In addition, measurements of your mouth are taken before the procedure is scheduled.

Step 3: The Procedure

If the assessment has proven you are suitable, a date is scheduled. On this day, surgery is conducted. If they are teeth that need removal, they are removed. Your mouth is also cleaned in preparation for the implants. Finally, the four implants are inserted, and the wounds are stitched with dissolvable stitches that don't require removal.

A test is conducted to test the teeth placement, and one can see how their new teeth look. The dentist also tries the bite and if the teeth affect your speech. If there is any discomfort or they affect your functionality, some adjustments are made to make them comfortable.

Your new teeth are then attached permanently.

Step 4: Appointments

Your dentist will schedule a follow-up appointment two weeks after the surgery. Then more follow up appointments every two months for six months.

Your dentist will examine if your gum is healing well and if the implants are okay. Any stitch that is not dissolved can be removed then.
